Spinal Intervention

Spinal interventional pain management is a method of administering focused image guided injections in and around the spinal column to relieve spinal pain and to treat spinal problems.

SELECTIVE NERVE ROOT BLOCK

Common cause of sciatic pain that is radiating down the back of the leg or the thigh is a  prolapse or protrusion of an intervertebral disc that causes a spinal nerve to get pinched or compressed.

The area that is supplied by that specific nerve shows symptoms which might be in the thigh, leg or foot

Selective nerve root block or SNRB, is a technique in which the specific nerve is blocked under computer control called fluoroscopy. The nerve location is confirmed with a dye and problem is relieved with an injection.

This is usually done as a day care procedure.

FACET JOINT INJECTION

Facet joints are joints that permit movement of the spinal column. Facet joint has a high rate of wear and tear because of constant movement. This is called facet arthropathy.Facet arthropathy causes pain and decreased spinal movement.

Facet joint blocks are targeted injections that are administered under computer guidance into the facet joint to lubricate the joint and get them to move again.

This may be given alone or in combination with other injections around the spine

SACRO-ILIAC INJECTION

Sacro-iliac joints are paired joints that are present at the base of the spine and a part of the pelvic ring system. They are important for bearing loads and stabilizing the spino-pelvic system.

Because of the high loads faced by these joints, common problems are strain and degeneration of these joints

Injections given into the sacro iliac joints under fluoroscopy is an important modality in treating chronic ailments not responding to medicines and physical therapy.

They may be given as a day care procedure alone or in combination with other injections

CAUDAL EPIDURAL INJECTIONS

Caudal epidural injections are administered into the space surrounding the spinal cord.
This is given for multiple level disc problems which are not relieved by medicines and physical treatments.
The benefit is multiple levels can be treated by a single injection.
